I started painting when I was 9 years old. I have always had a fascination with an eclectic mix of the Canadian Automatists, Renaissance Mannerists, the works of the Abstract Expressionists and all figurative works. I received an honors B.F.A. in painting and design from York University, Toronto, Canada
in 1989 and then worked at the Royal Ontario Museum, Canada's largest cultural institution, for nine years as a graphic designer, exhibition designer and production manager
During that time, my art and photography was displayed in several Toronto galleries.
In the late 90's, I moved to Toledo after accepting the position of Manager of Exhibitions at the Toledo Museum of Art. I am also a graduate of the New York Institute of Art and Design with a major in Interior Design.
I currently own my own Interior Design company, consult with artists and continues to produce mainly
large scale artwork.
I use many different mediums, such as acrylics, oils, charcoal, pencil, paper, pastels, and plasters. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Layering different materials and manipulating positive and negative spaces is my ongoing process.
I am a people watcher. I am a nature lover. Simply, I love to observe. I am fascinated with the subtleties of our social condition. I love to capture private and quiet moments and reflect those fleeting feelings in both my abstracts and figurative works.
